the economic Value of sharks

Worth more than the sum of their parts:

By quantifying the long-term, renewable value of sectors such as ecotourism and entertainment, industries that have benefited from shark interest for decades, we aim to introduce new voices, investors, and decision-makers into the conservation dialogue. This effort will help counteract the disproportionate influence of commercial fishing interests on management decisions and help us create stronger, more inclusive arguments for shark and ray conservation.

When we compare the numbers, the killing of sharks and rays becomes blatantly illogical and short-sighted. In this section, we investigate and report on the many ways sharks should be valued from a financial and economic perspective.

The numbers make it clear, sharks and rays are by far worth more alive than dead. In collaboration with Endangered Wildlife ÖU.
